Happy New Year!

The Society would love to wish all our supporters the happiest, most exciting, healthy and fruitful New Year!

What better way to start off than with an article featured in Jumeirah Magazine, profiling the project and its head, Alexandra Abrams. But The Society is about ALL involved - from the committee to those who sponsor and attend our events, and are helping build our app, GIVELondon. So thank you!!!

GIVE London

December is a month of festivity, of winding down, of preparing for Christmas. It is also a time for giving.

And so the Society pulled out all the stops to create GIVE London, a series of workshops and panel discussions to mark the launch of #GivingTuesday in the UK.

The events are currently being broadcast worldwide by Plus Social Good, a project of the UN Foundation and UN Development Programme. They have pride of place on the organisation's main navigation which is a huge testament to their quality and success, so until the close of 2014, click here to watch the events that inspired so many.

The videos will remain on our website indefinitely, and can be found here.

We would like to thank Tessa Packard London once more for hosting the remarkable Secret Christmas Grotto 'Best of British' philanthropic fair which ran alongside the workshops and panel discussion and gave them their fashionable edge.

Thank you again to all involved. We look forward to what 2015 will bring!

#GivingTuesday

In honour of #GivingTuesday, launching in the UK on 2nd December, The Society is hosting a series of unique and exciting events, 'GIVE London'.

From talks, to panel discussions, cocktail receptions and fashion sales, you are invited to come along and learn, experience, and GIVE.

**With the generous help and support of the United Nations Foundation, Charities Aid Foundation, and Tessa Packard London**

#GivingTuesday

The Society of Young Philanthropists is immensely proud to officially partner with #GivingTuesday, a project of the United Nations Foundation

The UN Foundation writes,

‘#GivingTuesday inspires personal philanthropy and encourages bigger, better and smarter charitable giving during the holiday season, showing that the world truly gives as good as it gets… It brings together diverse networks of people, large corporations, small businesses and nonprofits across an ever‐expanding range of new media platforms to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness in the service of changing our world for the better. #GivingTuesday is not a new giving platform, but a call to action to celebrate giving and encourage more, better and smarter giving during the Holiday Season. It’s an organizing principle to encourage the creativity and energy of people all over the world to work together for good.’

Tuesday 2nd December. Put it in your diaries. Now.

Stay tuned for details on this extremely exciting venture.

A Little Endurance Test and a Fantastic Opportunity

The Society is all about collaborating with others who share our goals. So we are so thrilled to announce our support of Sam Branson and Noah Devereux, who are putting together a core team of extremely exciting and determined people to embark on an adventure. They are offering you, the wonderful followers of The Society, the chance to cycle around the stunning vistas of Europe this summer, raising money for The Big Change's Life Skills program. If you like the sound of cycling round the Champagne regions of France in the beautiful sunshine, with some of the most interesting people you could meet (from celebrities to Wimbledon winners and more), and make a huge difference to the lives of young people in the UK, email aabrams@wcpun.org now. This is one NOT to be missed!

The Society at Kate Spade

Kate Spade New York was filled with 150 young people on Thursday night, eager to do their bit for charity whilst sipping champagne and indulging on macaroons. The Society of Young Philanthropists held the event to raise money for several local charities, including Walking with the Wounded, the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, and the Sara Charlton Charity. There was a raffle and donations aplenty, with over £1,500 being raised. Committee members Antonia and Tessa Packard, Christiana Hambro and Lexi Abrams set the floor alight with sales of raffle tickets and stories of philanthropy, whilst Rob Sancroft-Baker, George Askew and John Pitts delighted their companions with cheeky anecdotes of why to give. A lot was learnt, a lot was raised. A lot of numbers were exchanged, too. See, charity can be fun.

The Society in the City

'The thing about the Society of Young Philanthropists's parties is that they always start on such a civilised note. Intelligent conversations about art, theatre and education fill the air and everyone delicately sips on champagne. BUT, things never stay that way', Tatler

Thank you so, so much to everyone who helped make last night such a success. To Steam and Rye, to Harry Brompton's, to all those lovely people who came, and to Tatler for some amazing coverage.

Beautiful People. Beautiful Results.

Everyone knows that the best parties are held over Fashion Week. Beautiful people, beautiful clothes, beautiful times. So we thought we would inject our own style into this years fashion week, and create beautiful results. We are collaborating with the truly decadent Pritch London to raise money for humanitarian aid for children around the world, via the International Wings of Hope. Whilst many are looking to Spring/Summer collections, we are looking to the future in broader terms, and making it better. Full stop.

The event will be hosted by our wonderful friends at Tonteria and the stunning Profile Model Management. Please see the invite below for details.

Happy New Year!

Dear our beautiful friends and supporters,

I would just like to wish you a happy, healthy new year, full of excitement, smiles, laughter and prosperity!

Thank you so much for your continued support of The Society of Young Philanthropists. Despite having not officially launched, we have already been featured in the press eight times, hosted four events and trialled a new innovation, DonateADrink.

Most importantly, we have already provided the platform for more than five hundred young people to give. Together, they have raised money for five remarkable organisations: Battersea Dogs Home, Walking with the Wounded, The Household Cavalry Foundation, The Sara Charlton Charitable Trust and St Mungo’s.

We are looking forward to growing this year, with our launch in the spring – it will be an exciting panel discussion in conjunction with the UN Foundation, to be broadcast and accessible worldwide.

For more information, please see theyoungphilanthropists.com.

Once more, I wish you a happy New Year and thank you for being so wonderful! We are excited to share this next phase of our growth with you.

Thanking you,

Alexandra

‘The Society of Young Philanthropists looks super well thought out and just incredible!’, Anastasia Dellaccio, The UN Foundation
